THE BIOGRAPHY REV. JAMES ALUME AZETU
Rev. James Alume Azetu was born at Agyetashi village of Northbank area, Makurdi on 26th day of February, 1976 into the family of late Mr. and Mrs Azetu of the Jukun-Awanu extraction from Makurdi local Government area of Benue state.
He started his primary education at Army children school NASME Northbank in 1981 and graduated in 1986. In 2001, he was admitted into government secondary school Giza in Nasarawa state and graduated in 2007
In a quest to serve the Lord as a pastor, the humble and gentle man of God enrolled into the Reformed Theological Seminary Mkar near Gboko Benue state in 2008 where he obtained his bachelor of theology in 2012.
Upon his graduation from the Reformed Theological Seminary, Mkar near Gboko in 2012, he was ordained pastor on 19th February, 2013 at EKAN church Akpanaja, Nasarawa state consistory where he was posted to EKAN Church Akpanaja as the resident pastor. He is currently the pastor in charge of BIRCCAN LCC Wailamayo since 1st June, 2019.
It is imperative to know that Rev. Azetu accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and saviour sometime in December, 1985 and was baptized on the 6th day of January, 1986 at EKAN church central, Makurdi consistory by Rev. Dawuda Ikom Biriyi now retired.
Rev. Azetu joined the service of EKAN church, Akpanaja consistory where he contributed to the growth of EKAN classis, now BIRCCAN church. He was instrumental to the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy and site plan for EKAN church, Akpanaja consistory and the building of pastor’s residence which is in progress. He was the assistant secretary of EKAN classis and upon the dissolution of EKAN classis, he was the interim assistant general secretary of BIRCCAN synod executive committee. He is currently the vice president of BIRCCAN church synod executive committee, a position he is serving for second time. He is the chairman, BIRCCAN DCC Wailamayo for second tenure since June, 2018.
Rev. James Alume Azetu is married to Mrs. Esther James Azetu, a hardworking woman, dedicated to serve the Lord and giving the needed support to her husband in the vineyard of the God. She is Jukun by tribe and from Azyoko village of Abinsi council ward, Guma local government area of Benue state. The Holy union between the two was on the 24th day of June, 1995 at EKAN church Agyetashi Northbank, Makurdi preaching centre. The Holy matrimony is blessed with five beautiful children. They are: Peace, Azetuson, Asornwu, Wagbashido and Nlodizor.
